The Complexities of Process Development
Process development is often the backbone of innovation, but the journey is rarely straightforward. Recently, I had the opportunity to visit a customer site to assist with technical process development. During my time there, I realized there were crucial misunderstandings about the process development cycle among some folks in their business teams. This is actually a common issue. There's often a perception that throwing more resources at a technical challenge will accelerate the solution. However, as many of us know, it’s not just about more hands on deck—it's about having the right approach and a clear understanding of the process.
This experience underscored the importance of aligning technology-driven processes with business expectations. In technology, process development demands rapid iteration and a focus on scalability, while business processes prioritize stability and efficiency. These differing priorities can lead to varied opinions on how best to proceed.
But it’s in understanding and bridging these perspectives that we find success.
